Every so often new people arrive on this excellent forum and we get a little insight into who they are when they tell us about themselves. But I've only been here for about a year so I missed out on all previous introductions, and I'm sure thats the case for a lot of people, so:

why not introduce youselves to everyone else again?

If every regular HOD poster tells us a little about themselves, you know the sort of thing, then we can put background info to opinions and that'll make the posts that bit more interesting and with more context. We get occaisonal snatches of info from posts (I know S.P is in Hong Kong, JoesMech in LA, Dazzler in UK, etc.), but we (I) don't know much basic stuff about each other.

I've visited a few other (non-drumming) forums recently and the quality pales in comparison to this one - most don't even have a 'quote' button becasue no one ever comments on anything anyone else has said - they just go striaght to their views. HOD is different and I appreciate that. So - who are you all? Are UK or US or somewhere else entirely? Are you young, old? What kind of music to you gig, if any? That kind of thing. Fire away.

Well, I'm not famous or a "brand name" drummer, but have been playing drums my whole life. I check out this board regularly as I agree; it is a wealth of information. There is such a great blend of diverse drummers on this site, and it's a real treat to read about everything they have to say!!

I have a varied background in rock/jazz/funk playing in studio and live venues,as well as being a former drum sergeant in a highland bagpipe competition band.

My website has more background info and pictures. Soon I'll be adding some sound clips as I've just collected enough equipment to have a basement studio.

My name is Daniel and S.P stands for the first letters of my surname.

I reside in Hong Kong right now, been here for about 9 years. I was born and I am of Spanish nationality and blood but I moved to portugal soon after i was born. Lived there for 2 years then moved to Brazil where i lived for 6.5 years.

Here is a trivial fact, when i moved to hong kong from brazil i could speak no english at all and joined primary school without understanding a word anyone was saying to me. Within that year i was already basically fluent and didn't have to go to E.A.L anymore.

I'm still in High/Secondary school in Year 13 (last year) and I plan on moving on to Australia to study music performance at university then throw myself out into this crazy music world!

I've been playing for almost 4 years (my drumming birth was on the 2nd of may 2002 when i was 14.

    Hey. I'm Goh from Hawaii.

I was born in Tokyo, and since then have lived in Belgium and Maryland before moving here 3 years ago.

I started playing drums a little under 3 years ago. The fact that there is musical almost nothing going on here except for Hawaiian music and Jawaiian (Reggae influenced by Hawaiian music, or the other way around, not sure)is cramping my learning! So I wanna move somewhere else where things are actually going on! I am auditioning for the New School University so we'll see how that goes.

I started out by playing to classic rock records, like Zep, Floyd, Stones and all that good stuff. I have been checking out bop records mostly recently as well as fusion and some R&B and pop. I also like listening to folkloric latin drumming music... fun stuff.

People tell me I look like Patrick Wilson from Weezer some times..... which is quite insulting in multiple ways...

I'm Lawrence, 14, 15 in january. I live in Oxford, UK, and i study music at Junior Trinity in London on saturdays (see www.tcm.ac.uk ). I've been playing drums for about 6 years, and piano for about 8 or 9, so i guess i started pretty young! I play keyboards as well as drums, and try and balence between the two (not too much much of either!), but i guess at some point i've got to decide what road to go down, although cats like Gary Husband seem to do pretty well with double instrumental playing careers. Always up for collabs with anyone who needs a keyboard player over the net. Email lozdunn @ gmail dot com
